Concerts for a Cause
Our mission is to bring people together through music. Donations from our concerts support local musicians and help fund youth music programs in Pittsburgh. This year, a portion of our donations will help launch Azure Family Concerts, a series tailored to children and young adults who are on the autism spectrum. This is a collaboration between Azure Concerts Baltimore, Autism Society and the CMU Music Entrepreneurship program. This is the initiative of "mom who cares" Anitra Birnbaum, who recently moved to Pittsburgh from Baltimore and attended the Azure series there with her son. Monique Mead is donating her services as Artistic Director of the series.

AZURE FAMILY CONCERTS
Azure events are fun, friendly and engaging performances tailored to children and young adults who are on the autism spectrum or have similar challenges.
Since many with autism (or related challenges) cannot attend traditional music performances due to uncontrollable vocalizations or physical movements, the Azure concerts create a musical environment where such behaviors are not frowned upon, but joyfully accepted and embraced. Artists include Grammy Award winning saxophonist, Eric DeFade; violinist, Monique Mead; and members of the Pittsburgh Symphony.
